Maestro Walsh is an active recitalist, accompanying both classical voice recitals and Broadway cabarets. Joe operates a distinguished opera, art song and musical theater private coaching studio in Ashburn, Virginia. In these private sessions, he covers such topics as vocal development, vocal technique, repertoire building, diction, breath support, musicianship, theatricality and audition techniques. He is well versed in the Broadway repertoire, as well as Italian, French and German languages and regularly offers master classes at area music festivals. Joe has judged many vocal competitions, including the Middle Atlantic District of the Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions in Washington D.C., The National Society of Arts and Letters Dorothy Lincoln Smith Voice Competition, Partners for the Arts Vocal Competition and the Charles Williams Voice Competition at Levine Music. He is available for role coaching, recital accompanying and recording projects.
